There are no shortcuts, there are no hacks
Não existem atalhos, não existem truques.

If you want to take the easy road, i promise you: it's longer and more painful than the hard road.
Se você quer pegar a estrada fácil, eu promoto a você: é mais longa e mais dolorosa que a estrada difícil.

I know. I've lived it.
Eu sei. Eu vivi isso.

I've ventured down the easy road at times in my life and it never led to anywhere good.
Eu me aventurei no caminho mais fácil por algum tempo na minha vida e ele nunca me levou a nenhum lugar bom.

The positive things in my life always came when i faced the biggest challenges.
As coisas positivas na minha vida sempre vieram quando eu enfrentei os maiores desafios.

I joined the Navy.
Eu entrei para a marinha

I took the hard road in the Navy and made it into the SEAL Teams.
Eu peguei o caminho difícil na marinha e entrei para a equipe dos Seals.

There, i had the honor of leading men in combat.
Lá, eu tive honra  de liderar homens em combate.

I learned some lessons along the way, lessons that have been tested on the battlefield and, when implemented, lead to sucess in any arena.
Eu aprendi algumas lições ao longo do caminho, lições que foram testadas no campo de batalha e, quando implementadas, levam ao sucesso em qualquer área.

One of the best things I've learned is that anyone has what it takes to travel the hard road, to walk the path that lead to success.
Uma das melhores coisas que eu aprendi é que todos temos o que é preciso para percorrer a estrada difícil, para andar no caminho que leva ao sucesso.

That includes you.
Isso inclui você.

It won't be easy
Não vai ser fácil.

It will demand everything you've got to give.
Isso demandará tudo o que você tem para dar.

But you can do it, and i want to give you three key principles i've learned that will help you to get it done.
Mas você pode fazer isso, e eu quero dar a você três princípios chaves que aprendi que irão ajudar você a fazê-lo.

Principle number one: discipline equals freedom.
Princípo número um: disciplina é igual a liberdade.

That's not a contradiction, it's an equation.
Isso não não é uma contradição. É uma equação.

Discipline might appear to be the opposite of freedom.
Disciplina pode parecer ser o oposto de liberdade.

But, in fact, discipline is the path to freedom.
Mas, na verdade, disciplina é o caminho para a liberdade.

Discipline is the driver of daily execution.
Disciplina é o motorista da execução diária.

Discipline defeats the infinite excuses that hold you back.
Disciplina derrota a infinidade de desculpas que te amarram.

Some people think motivation is what will compel them to get things done.
Algumas pessoas pensam que motivação é que irá obrigá-las a fazer as coisas.

But motivation is just an emotion, a felling, and like all feelings, it's  fickle: it comes and goes.
Mas motivação é apenas uma emoção, um sentimento, e como todo sentimento, é inconstante: ele vem e vai.

You can't count on motivation to be there when you need to get through truly challenging times.
Você não pode contar que a motivação estará lá quando você precisa superar momentos verdadeiramente desafiadores.

But you can count on discipline.
Mas você pode contar com a disciplina.

Discipline is something you dictate.
Disciplina é algo que você controla.

Motivation won't make you exercise every day, discipline will.
Motivação não vai fazer você se exercitar todos os dias. Disciplina irá.

Motivation won't stay up late and finish a project for you, discipline will.
Motivação não vai ficar acordado até tarde e finalizar um projeto pra você. Disciplina irá.

Motivation isn't going to get you out of bed in the morning, discipline will.
Motivação não irá te tirar da cama pela manhã. Disciplina irá.

Make discipline part of you daily life and your daily life will get better.
Faça da disciplina parte de sua vida diária e sua vida diária irá melhorar.

Principle number two: Stay humble.
Princípio número dois: Continue humilde.

In life, you are going to have to do things that you don't want to do.
Na vida, você terá que fazer coisa que você não quer fazer.

Maybe things that you don't think you should have to do, things that offend your precious ego.
Talvez coisas que você pense que nem deveria fazer, coisas que ofendem seu precioso ego.

When i got done with basic SEAL training and reported on board SEAL team one.
Quando eu concluí o treinamento básico dos sels e entrei para o time one.

You know what is was assigned to do?
Você sabe o que fui designado para fazer?

I was assigned to clean toilets.
Eu fui designado para limpar banheiros.

That's right, despite having just graduated some of the most difficult military training in the world.
É isso mesmo. Apesar de eu ter me graduado em um dos treinamentos militares mais difíceis do mundo.

Despite being assigned to an "elite" commando unit, my first mission at the actual seal team was to clean toilets.
Apesar de ter sido designado para uma unidade de comando de elite, minha primeira missão na equipe dos seals foi limpar banheiros.

Not exactly a glorious job.  But you know what? I did it.
Não é exatamente um trabalho glorioso, mas você que. Eu o fiz. .

I did it to the best of my ability and took pride in doing it well.
Eu fiz com a melhor das minhas habilidades e me orgulhei de fazê-lo bem.

And that attitude got noticied: if i cared that much about how clean the toilets were, people knew i would do a good job with even more important assignments.
E essa atitude foi noticiada. Se eu m importo tanto assim com o quanto os banheiros estavam limpos, as pessoas sabiam que eu faria um bom trabalho com tarefas ainda mais importantes.

After a short period of time, i got those more important assignments.
Após um curto período de tempo, eu recebi essas tarefas mais importantes.

But it was humility that opened the door for me.
Mas foi a humildade que abriu as portas para mim.

Now, being humble does not mean that you shouldn't be confident.
Agora, ser humilde não significa que não deve ser confiante.

You certainly have to believe that you are a capable person.
Certamente você tem que acreditar que você é uma pessoa capaz.

But don't let confidence turn into arrogance.
Mas não deixe a confiança se tornar arrogancia.

So keep your in check and stay humble.
Portanto, mantenha o seu ego sobre controle.

The third and final principle:  Take Ownership of everything.
O terceiro e último princípio: Tome a responsabilidade de tudo.

I call this "extreme ownership".
Eu chamo isso de extrema responsabilidade.

In the military, the best leaders and the best troops were the ones that took ownership of everything in their world, not just the things were responsible for, but for every challenge and obstacle that impacte their mission.
Nas forças armadas. os melhores lideres em as melhores tropas foram os que tomaram a responsabilidade sobre tudo em seus mundos, não somente sobre as coisas que são responsável for, mas por todo desafio e obstáculo que impactam suas missões.

When something went wrong: they cast no blame, they made no excuses.
Quando algo da errado. Eles não atribuem culpa, eles não criam desculpas.

They took ownership of the problem and fixed it.
Eles assumem a responsabilidade do problema e o corrigem.

You can implement this attitude as well, not only in your job, but in your life.
Você pode implementar essa atitude também. não apenas em seu trabalho, mas na sua vida.

Let other people blame their parents, their boss, or the system.
Deixe outras pessoas culparem seus pais, seus chefes ou o sistema.

Let weaker people complain that the world isn't fair.
Deixe as pessoas mais fracas reclamarem que o mundo não é justo.

You are the leader of you life: take ownership of everything in it.
Você é o líder da sua vida: Assuma a responsabilidade de tudo nela.

So: be disciplined in all that you do.
Poranto, seja disciplinado em tudo o que você faz.

Don't subject yourself to the whims of motivation.
Não sujeito você mesmo aos caprichos da motivação.

Stay humble and be willing to do what needs to be done.
Continue humilde e esteja disposto a fazer o que precisa ser feito.

And: take extreme ownership of your life and everything in it.
e tome posse extrema responsabilida da sua vida de tudo que está nela.

Then: choose the hard path, the path of responsibility, hard work, and sacrifice.
E então, escolha a estrada difícil, o caminho da responsabilidade, trabalho duro e sacrifício.

The patch of discipline, humility, and ownership, that ultimately leads to freedom.
O caminho da disciplina, humildade e responsabilidade que, em última análise, leva à liberdade.

If you follow these principles, then nothing in the world will stop you.
Se você seguir estes princípios, então nada no mundo irá para você.
